Farzona Fozilova – A promising Uzbek champion
Farzona Fozilova was born in Bukhara on December 13 in 2003 and she joined to the national events successfully in 2019. Bukhara’s new hope caused a major surprise at the final of the 2020 Uzbekistan Women’s Youth National Championships where she earned the next gold.
The Adriatic Pearl Youth Tournament was her first international event on March 2021 but she won the entire competition after beating India’s Youth World Champion Gitika in the final. Fozilova’s next strong highlight was at the 2021 ASBC Asian Youth Boxing Championships where she defeated Kazakhstan’s Gulnaz Buribayeva in the semi-finals and continued her winning path against India’s Nivedita Karki in the final in Dubai.
She claimed her first Elite National title in December 2021 and she has been selected to participate at the 2022 ASBC Asian U22 Boxing Championships in Tashkent where she earned Tajikistan’s Sumaiya Kosimova for the U22 title. Her Tajik rival was competitive, but Fozilova’s great finish was enough to beat Kosimova earning the first historic U22 title.
Her final contest was one of the bests in the 2022 Uzbekistan National Championships and Fozilova defended her throne.
Southpaw Fozilova arrived to the recent ASBC Asian U22 Boxing Championships to Bangkok as the No.1 of the women’s minimumweight (48kg) and she accomplished her goal in Thailand’s capital city. Following her previous successes, she succeeded over Nepal’s historic finalists Susma Tamang in the final of the championships.
