The European Schoolboys & Schoolgirls Boxing Championships is Slovenia’s biggest event in their history

The European Boxing Confederation’s Schoolboys & Schoolgirls Boxing Championships opened with 43 contests in Maribor, Slovenia.

Slovenia has never hosted any major boxing events in the past and the EUBC Schoolboys & Schoolgirls European Boxing Championships is a new milestone in the developing country.

The first edition of European Schoolboys Boxing Championships took place twenty years ago in 2003 and girls could join the event in 2018.

Altogether 380 boxers are competing in 13 girls’ and 16 boys’ weight classes in this grassroots championship which is hosting for the 13 and 14-year-old talents. Most of these young boxers have already international experience and around 15-30 bouts in national levels.

Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belgium, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, England, Estonia, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Montenegro, Poland, Romania, Scotland, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain and Ukraine are the participating nations in Maribor.

The 29 finals of the EUBC Schoolboys & Schoolgirls European Boxing Championships will be held after the rest day on August 25.
