Usyk says he doesn’t underestimate Dubois
Oleksandr Usyk says he doesn’t underestimate Daniel Dubois ahead of their unified world heavyweight title fight that will be held in Poland on 26th August.
Usyk will take on mandatory challenger Dubois in Wroclaw. Fight will be for IBF, IBO, WBA (Super) and WBO heavyweight titles.
“I don’t underestimate him,” Usyk told TNT Sports’ Carl Frampton. “I treat him like I used to treat all of my opponents in the past. When I get myself prepared for Joshua for anyone else, I do some volume of work in my training camp and with Daniel Dubois there is no exception. I do exactly the same work, I train as hard as I can as it’s possible to achieve my goals in the ring.”
Usyk was undisputed world champion in cruiserweight and he won all four heavyweight fights he has competed. His last two fights were against Anthony Joshua, in which he won and then retained WBA (Super), IBF, WBO and IBO titles.
Usyk has won 20 professional fights in which he competed, 13 of them by KO. Dubois has a record of 19 wins and one loss. 18 of wins came by KO. Dubois one WBA title in December last year, defeating South Africa fighter Kevin Lerena by TKO in third round.
Usyk promoter Alex Krassyuk is confident that the fight between Ukrainian and WBC champion Tyson Fury, will happen.
“It’s our obligation to deliver this fight. The whole world wants to see this fight”, said Krassyuk in a recent interview with “BBC Sport”.
Fury will fight MMA star Francis Ngannou on 28th October in Saudi Arabia.
