World Boxing announced new members
A new governing body, the World Boxing was officially launched in April 2023 to keep boxing in the official program of the Olympic Games.
The International Olympic Committee’s Director General Mr. Christophe De Kepper confirmed a few weeks ago that boxing will be involved in the official program of the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games which was pending in the recent one year.
United States, New Zealand, Australia, England, Great Britain and the Netherlands were the first six members of World Boxing. Joining them, Canada, Brazil, Argentina, Germany, Honduras and Sweden all completed their registration processes and became official members of World Boxing.
The Executive Board of World Boxing approved their applications and these will be ratified officially during the 1st WB Congress on November 2023. The full members of World Boxing have the voting the voting rights at the inaugural Congress in three months.
The World Boxing’s main goals are the transparent and open election process, the WADA recognised anti-doping policies, the formal recognitions from the National Olympic Committees, the well-built international boxing sport events.
Further National Federations and boxing organizations are planning to join World Boxing based on the interest in the application process.
