Young guns shined in the Golden Gloves of Vojvodina Youth Tournament opener

The prestigious Golden Gloves of Vojvodina is one of the strongest youth competitions in the world and its 41st edition is running in Serbia’s Subotica. As in all of the previous editions, the city of Subotica, in the heart of the Vojvodina region is the host of this international youth competition.

Boxers who were born in 2004 and in 2005 are eligible to attend in the 41st Golden Gloves of Vojvodina Youth Tournament where all of the 25 youth weight categories are in the official program. The European Youth Boxing Championships for these 17 and 18-year-old talents were held in April 2023 but the Asian Youth Boxing Championships is still coming soon in the end of October.

The Indian girls arrived to the Serbian international event with a strong team and their Supriya Thokchom (54kg) succeeded in the opener of the competition. Her teammate, the Youth World silver medallist Bhawna Sharma eliminated a European Youth Champion in the best bout of the day.

Austria’s Saifullah Saidoulaev delivered one of the top sensations in the second session when he defeated Russia’s Ivan Tkachenko at the light heavyweight (80kg).

Hungary’s Csaba Zsigo defeated Israel’s David Zakhari in the annual European Youth Championships and he repeated that performance once again on their re-match in Subotica.

Serbia’s top youth stars, medallists from the previous European Championships as Dragana Jovanovic and Marko Pizurica both eliminated their first rivals with top performance.
