Mr. Raffaele Bergamasco – An amazing career
Mr. Raffaele Bergamasco is a fantastic coach who worked in several countries in the recent years and developed boxing’s strategy and tactics during his career.
Mr. Raffaele Bergamasco was born in 1971 and he competed for Italy at the 1988 European Junior Boxing Championships as first. He represented Italy at the 1991 European Boxing Championships, at the 1993 Mediterranean Games and at the 1994 World Cup as well.
He claimed gold medal at the 1997 Mediterranean Games which was his career highlight and he served the Italian national boxing team until 1999.
As a coach, he began to work in his homeland and supported the national team in the success of the 2000s when Domenico Valentino, Clemente Russo and Roberto Cammarelle were their aces.
He continued his work with the Indian female national team and one of their peak points was the New Delhi 2018 Women’s World Boxing Championships. During his leadership in India, Lovlina Borgohain earned a bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympic Games two years ago.
Following the Olympics, he switched to Belgium and their boxers earned historic medals in the World Championships, European Championships and European Games.
Oshin Derieuw and Vasile Usturoi both qualified already for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, which was the success of the Belgian coaching staff such as Mr. Hubert Firens and Mr. Raffaele Bergamasco.
He worked as an Instructor in various coach courses and he has studies about the tactical and technical aspects of boxing.
