Toborek and Hofstad made the bout of the finals at the Silesian Women’s Open

The elite finals concluded in the sixth and last competition day at the 18th edition of the Silesian Women’s Open Tournament in Gliwice, Poland.

Slovakia’s Nicole Durikova became the first elite winner in the Silesian Open, the 22-year-old boxer defeated Poland’s Marta Prill in the final of the minimumweight (48kg).

Ivy Jane Smith was one of the returning boxers in the English team and she made a strong impact on the event winning the flyweight (52kg) final against Kazakhstan’s Rano Parkhatova.

Kazakhstan’s World silver medallist Alua Balkybekova defeated Poland’s Natalia Kuczewska and made a golden debut in her new category, at the flyweight (50kg).

The next strong Kazakh girl, the U22 team member Viktoriya Grafeyeva proved her strong development this year and she had the effective long distance tactics to beat England’s Sameenah Toussaint.

England’s Lucy Kings-Wheatley switched to boxing from other martial arts and she won her second international tournament in 2023 after beating Kazakhstan’s Aida Abikeyeva in the lightweight (60kg) final.

Another young English talent, Sacha Hickey followed Kings-Wheatley’s pathway, she was able to beat Switzerland’s best elite boxer, Anna Jenni in the next final.

The Polish girls dominated the heaviest weight categories, firstly Oliwia Toborek defeated Norway’s Youth World Champion Sunniva Hofstad at the middleweight (75kg). Joining her, Martyna Jancelewicz (81kg) and Agata Kaczmarska (+81kg) both controlled their finals over Kazakh opponents.
