Fiss, Alvarez, Lopez and Arzola won their second meetings in the Cuban National Selections

One of the top boxing powers, the Cubans arranged their first national selection event for that at the Rafael Trejo Boxing Gym in Havana on August and their second meeting took place there as well.

A bronze medallist from the recent World Boxing Championships, Alejandro Claro Fiss won the flyweight (51kg) following his success over Giovis Salfran in the first selection meeting and he repeated that performance on the second selection.

The World Championships silver medallist Saidel Horta is a young and a huge prospect from a wonderful boxing family but he suffered an unexpected loss to Rafael Ernesto Blanco. He made a revenge on their second featherweight (57kg) contest.

The three-time World Champion Lazaro Alvarez met another World medallist boxer at the light welterweight (63.5kg) but the 32-year-old veteran defeated Erislandy Alvarez twice.

The World Championships quarter-finalist Jorge Cuellar defeated the super talented 19-year-old Jorge Daniel Forcades at the light middleweight (71kg) last month but he suffered a loss to Pedro Veitia on the second selection tournament.

The two-time Olympic Games winner Arlen Lopez the veteran defeated both of his rivals on the two selection meeting, Jorge Soto and Nelson Williams at the light heavyweight (80kg).

The World Championships silver medallist, Fernando Arzola was too strong for Adonis Iznaga in the first selection and he was the winner of the second contest against Yunier Duenas as well keeping the super heavyweight (+92kg) title.
