France is the team of the first day at the Rodriguez Cal U22 Memorial Tournament

France became the best team at the Enrique Rodriguez Cal U22 Memorial Tournament in Palencia, Spain on Day1.

France’s Hugo Grau was member of the elite national team as well in the previous years and he is one of their aces in Palencia.

He met a three-years younger opponent, Hungary’s Dominik Enekes in the second contest of the men’s welterweight (67kg). The French controlled the first round but the Hungarian southpaw tried to change his rhythm in the beginning of the second. Grau’s routine controlled their contest and the French marched into the semi-finals of the weight category in Palencia.

France’s new U22 national hero, Benny Nizard was too strong for Spain’s newcomer Jaume Fiol in the last light middleweight (71kg) quarter-final bout of the day.

France’s former youth national team member Chadi Baraia dominated his contest against a Spaniard at the middleweight (75kg), Ruben Castellanos and he made a fantastic comeback in the international events.

The fourth succeeded French boxer was Sami Diguerher at the men’s cruiserweight (86kg) who had a tight bout against a 19-year-old local talent, Aryan Saedpanah.
