Narender’s KO was the quickest victory at the Asian Games on Day3

The third day of boxing delivered exciting bouts at the men’s featherweight and super heavyweight in Hangzhou today. The boxing powers and several promising nations won contests during these preliminary rounds.

A record number of 238 boxers from 38 countries are participating in the boxing event of the Asian Games in Hangzhou. Among them 34 boxers, including 20 females will earn their Olympic quotas for Paris 2024.

Thailand’s Tokyo Olympian Baison Manikon won the lone female contest of the day, the 22-year-old tall boxer eliminated Uzbekistan’s teenager Aziza Zokirova in women’s middleweight (75kg) today.

Philippines’ Olympic Games silver medallist Carlo Paalam opened his campaign against Jordan’s Asian Champion Mohammad Adnan Abu Jajeh and the 25-year-old Filipino impressed in his new weight class on Day3.

Uzbekistan’s Abdumalik Khalokov is the Asian Champion and the reigning World Champion at the featherweight (57kg) who launched counter-punches from his safest distance against Chinese Taipei’s Lee Cheng Wei.

China’s Liu Ping returned to the national team and he had the better tempo against Iran’s Daniyal Shakhbakhsh which means the local featherweight (57kg) boxer was able to eliminate a Tokyo Olympian.

Kazakhstan’s World Champion Makhmud Sabyrkhan was dominant in the ring against Lee Ye Chan while another Central Asian featherweight boxer, Tajikistan’s Asror Vokhidov stopped his rival from Laos.

The super heavyweight (+92kg) delivered the next knockout in the Asian Games, India’s Narender Berwal had lethal shots and won the preliminary bout against Kyrgyzstan’s Oomatbek Elchoro Uulu after one minute.

Iran’s Iman Ramezanpour, Bahrain’s Denis Latypov, Mongolia’s Beknur Khali and Tajikistan’s Mukhammad Abroridinov were the further winners at the super heavyweight (+92kg) today and all of them joined the last eight.

Developing countries such as Kuwait, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Palestine also won preliminary bouts in the third day at the Asian Games.
