Alvarez beats Jermell Charlo to defend super-middleweight titles

Saul “Canelo” Alvarez defended his undisputed super-middleweight title by beating Jermell Charlo on pts.

Alvarez secured a unanimous decision (118:109, 118:109 and 119:108) win over American Charlo at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas to retain his WBA, WBO, WBA and IBF titles.

33-year-old Alvarez knocked down Charlo in 7th round and scored a convincing win. For Alvarez was his 60th win in 64 professional boxing fights.

“I’m the best. Who’s better? Nobody can beat this Canelo,” said Alvarez.

Charlo, 33, was undisputed super-welter champion until he was stripped of his WBO belt when the fight started. For Charlo was second loss in pro boxing. He has 35 wins and one draw.

“I just feel like I wasn’t me in there,” said Charlo. “It’s boxing. Sometimes you win and sometimes you lose. I’m proud of myself. He didn’t knock me out. He hit me with some hard shots.”
