Three Uzbek stars won gold medals in the last day of boxing at the Asian Games

The last six finals were held in the eleventh competition day at the Asian Games in Hangzhou, China where Uzbekistan won three gold medals.

A record number of 238 boxers from 38 countries are participating in the boxing event of the Asian Games in Hangzhou. Among them 34 boxers, including 20 females will earn their Olympic quotas for Paris 2024.

Chinese Taipei’s Lin Yu Ting is a fantastic boxer at the women’s featherweight (57kg) and the two-time World Champion made an excellent final against Kazakhstan’s Karina Ibragimova to take the gold medal in Hangzhou.

China’s Yang Liu defeated Thailand’s Janjaem Suwannapheng in the final of the women’s welterweight (66kg) in the 2023 Women’s World Boxing Championships and she was able to repeat that performance for the title of the Asian Games as well.

Uzbekistan’s Hasanboy Dusmatov won all of the big titles during his career including the Olympic Games in 2016 but he bagged his first ever Asian Games gold medal in Hangzhou following his success over Thailand’s Thitisan Panmot at the men’s flyweight (51kg).

Uzbekistan’s Abdumalik Khalokov, the World and Asian Champion at the men’s featherweight (57kg), was too smart and strong for Japan’s Shudai Harada and stopped his rival in the second round.

China’s Tuohetaerbieke Tanglatihan has Kazakh roots and he became the host nation’s fifth gold medallist in boxing following that he was able to turn back the light heavyweight (80kg) final against Philippines’ Olympic bronze medallist Eumir Felix Marcial.

Uzbekistan’s king at the super heavyweight (+92kg), the Olympic Games winner, World Champion and Asian Champion Bakhodir Jalolov met his old neighbouring rival, Kazakhstan’s Kamshybek Kunkabayev and he won the bout by points decision, earning the country’s third gold today.
