Gilberto Ramirez outpoints Smith in WBA eliminator

Mexican Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramirez (45-1) outpointed former light-heavyweight world champion Joe Smith (28-4) on Saturday night in Las Vegas, in his first fight in cruiserweight division.

It was Ramirez’s, former super-middleweight world champion, first fight after 11-month absence.

Fight between Ramirez and Smith was WBA eliminator in cruiserweight.

“The key to this new version was a lot of hard work. Zurdo is back, but this time with more power and more balls,” Ramirez said.

All three judges rated the fight 99:91 in favor of Ramirez.
