Jovanovic, Rahal, Kunovac and Nileborg are among the winners at the Sarajevo Trophy

The new edition of the Sarajevo Trophy Tournament was held for both genders and the junior and youth boxers were in action in Bosnia & Herzegovina.

There were three competition days in the Sarajevo Trophy and next to the gold medals the local organizers arranged awards in nine different categories.

Mr. Enes Kunovac, the Secretary General of the Bosnian & Herzegovian Boxing, was the main organizer of the tournament in Sarajevo.

Serbia’s Dragana Jovanovic won medals in all of her junior and youth championships and the 18-year-old talent claimed her next tournament title in Sarajevo after beating a French rival, Chayma Baadi in the final.

France’ Youth World competitor Bilal Benali won two rounds against Hungary’s 18-year-old Csaba Zsigo and he defeated his European Youth medallist opponent unanimously at the bantamweight (54kg).

The featherweight (57kg) final was selected as the best youth male contest of the event which was won by Ukraine’s Aleksandr Tsymbal over Greece’s Georgios Pleas.

One of the stars of the competition, Hungary’s European Youth silver medallist Krisztian Nileborg won almost all of his contests in 2023 and he succeeded against Serbia’s Dimitrije Andrejevic in Sarajevo as well.

Croatia’s Mateo Pejic is one of their future hopes who impressed in the entire tournament, he stopped Bosnia & Herzegovina’s Dzenan Hodzic at the youth heavyweight (92kg).

Israel’s Abdallah Rahal was named as the Best Junior Boxer of the Sarajevo Trophy where he defeated Serbia’s Ognjen Antic in the final competition day winning the title of the lightweight (60kg).

One of the main local hopes, Bosnia & Herzegovina’s 16-year-old Tarik Kunovac defeated Croatia’s Mario Nekic at the middleweight (75kg) which was the best junior contest of the Sarajevo Trophy.

Emir Kunovac (63.5kg) also succeeded against Serbia’s Vasilije Djordjevic and Hassan Selimovic (80kg) delivered another junior gold medal for the host country following his success over Hungary’s Bence Bodnar.
