Big names and super talented boxers involved to Team USA
Team USA will compete with a maximum number of 13 boxers in the upcoming Panamerican Games in Santiago de Chile following the decision of their management and head coach, Mr. Billy Walsh.
United States is No.2 in the overall medal standings, their boxers bagged 35 gold, 35 silver and 49 bronze medals between 1951 and 2019.
Naomi Graham is the veteran in the team who rules the women’s middleweight (75kg) after the Claressa Shields’ era and she earned several continental titles as well.
Morelle McCane moved down to the welterweight (66kg) and she impressed in the preparation tournaments well enough to be one of the favourites in the Games.
Jajaira Gonzalez won all of the major junior and youth championships and the currently 26-year-old boxer will represent Team USA at the women’s lightweight (60kg).
Jennifer Lozano (50kg) and the 19-year-old Yoseline Perez (54kg) both are from Texas and despite their young age, they have strong potential to earn Olympic spots in the Panamerican Games.
The sixth female member of the team is Alyssa Mendoza from Idaho, who moved up to the featherweight (57kg) this year but she earned medals in the preparation events.
The current US male team is considered as one of the strongest line-ups in the previous 15 years including World Champions and super talented boys.
Roscoe Hill made his debut in the US national team at the 2021 World Boxing Championships where he earned a silver medal immediately.
Jahmal Harvey (57kg), Omari Jones (71kg) and Robby Gonzales (80kg) were the further US stars of the 2021 World Boxing Championships in Belgrade and all of them will be fighting for the Olympic quotas in the Panamerican Games.
A native talent, Emilio Garcia could be the main sensation of the US team, the 20-year-old boxer has an impressive record and he has gold medal expectations at the light welterweight (63.5kg).
Jamar Talley (92kg) and Joshua Edwards (+92kg) both progressed rapidly in the previous one year and will strengthen Team USA in Chile.
