Pacquiao wants to end career with Olympic gold

The Philippine’s Olympic Committee has sent a “special request” to the International Olympic Committee on behalf of Manny Pacquiao to let him compete at the Paris 2024 Olympics. Manny Pacquiao goal is to end his boxing career by winning a gold medal for his country at age of 45.

A letter have been sent to IOC to see if eight weight division world champion Pacquiao, would be able to compete.
Pacquiao faces stumbling blocks, as maximum age limit for Olympic boxers is 40.
Even if given exemption, Pacquiao would have to book his place in Paris through one of two qualification tournaments which are taking place next year in Italy and Thailand.

Another route for Pacquiao could be receiving a universality place from the IOC which are normally reserved for countries whose boxers struggle to qualify.
Four spots are available in the Paris 2024 men’s event in the featherweight, lightweight, welterweight and middleweight divisions.
