Lopez, Perez and Quiroga lead Team Argentina at the Panamerican Games
Argentina selected 10 boxers to the upcoming Panamerican Games which will be starting in Santiago de Chile next week.
Argentina won 23 gold, 16 silver and 28 bronze medals in the boxing history of the Panamerican Games between 1951 and 2019. Argentina was one of the leaders in the boxing world during the 1920s, 1930s, 1940s and 1950s.
The Argentinians and their head coach Mr. Fabricio Nieva built up a new team since the 2019 Panamerican Games but all of the squad members impressed in the previous international competitions.
Aldana Florencia Lopez earned a bronze medal at the 2022 Women’s World Boxing Championships in Turkey and she has the speed and footwork to be one of the favourites for the Olympic spot at the women’s light flyweight (50kg).
One of the top welterweight (66kg) hopes in the Games, Lucia Noelia Perez is the most experienced female boxer in Argentina, she is member of the national team since 2014 and she earned the gold medal at the 2017 American Boxing Championships.
Milagros Rosario Herrera (57kg) and the former Youth Olympic Games bronze medallist Victoria Oriana Saputo (60kg) have relatively better options to qualify for the Paris 2024 Olympics as there are four quotas available in their weight classes.
Sofia Micaela Robles (54kg) and a newcomer in the national selection, Lorena Soledad Balbuena (75kg) will represent Team Argentina at the Panamerican Games.

Luciano Matias Amaya (63.5kg) is a 19-year-old talent in the team who competed for Argentina at the 2022 Youth World Boxing Championships.
A former WSB boxer, Joel Marcos Mafauad moved up to the light middleweight (71kg) while a professional athlete, Abraham Gabriel Buonarrigo with the record of 12-4 will represent Argentina at the light heavyweight (80kg).
