Linares announces retirement
Jorge Linares announced the retirement from boxing after his loss on Saturday night in Liverpool against Jack Catterall.
Linares (47-9) lost via unanimous decision against Catterall (28-1). The fight was for WBA Inter-Continental Super Light title.
All judges saw Catterall as winner (117:111, 116:112 and 116:112).
After the fight Linares, former world champion in three weight divisions, said that it was his last fight of professional boxing career.
“I’m a three-time world champion. I’m a very blessed guy,” 38-year-old said. “So to finish like this is amazing; it’s a big thing for me. I’m super happy to be here and to show myself who I am and how I finish the fight by a decision. It’s important to me”.
