Nearly 600 boxers competed at the King of the Ring Tournament

The King of the Ring Tournament was held for the men’s elite, youth, junior and schoolboys age groups in the traditional venue at the city of Boras, Sweden.

The event is the biggest club competition in the whole world and not only the European boxers competed in the busy event in Boras.

The engine of the competition is Mr. Ray Husac, who has the passion for boxing and built up a strong image about his events, the King of the Ring and the Golden Girl Tournaments.

The total number of boxers was 586, 571 male boxers and 15 girls who competed in a specific Round Robin format.

The competition was running in five rings in Boras due to the record number of boxers making the event as one of the busiest competitions in 2023. There were 124 bouts only in the final day in the competition.

In the Round Robin competition format for the girls such strong boxers as Morocco’s Oumayma Bel Ahbib, Norway’s Madeleine Angelsen, Switzerland’s Ana Marija Milisic and France’s Melina Mezrag all competed in Boras.

Hungary’s Krisztian Nileborg won the European Junior Championships in 2022, he claimed a silver at the 2023 European Youth Boxing Championships and no one could stop him at the youth middleweight (75kg) in Boras.

Afghanistan’s Hasibullah Malikzadah competed in the 2021 Asian Boxing Championships representing Afghanistan but after that he left the country but returned in the King of the Ring Tournament with a gold medal at the elite lightweight (60kg). Another Afghan boxer, Sulaiman Aslami defeated Denmark’s Nikki Moeller Nielsen in the final of the middleweight (75kg).

Sweden’s technician Hadi Hadrous (57kg), England’s Joshua Soloye (63.5kg), Norway’s Adrian Hagen (80kg) were the further stars of the elite part of the competition.

Besides to Afghanistan, Jordan and some other unique nations also sent their teams to the King of the Ring Tournament.

Their female event, the Golden Girl will be held on February 2-6 in Boras, Sweden which could be another record-breaking competition.
