Strong Oceanian boxers will challenge for the 13 Olympic quotas at the Pacific Games from November 27

Following the European Games, the African Olympic Boxing Qualifier, the Asian Games, and the Panamerican Games, the Pacific Games will be the last and fifth continental qualifier for the Paris 2024 Olympics this year.

The Opening Ceremony of the Pacific Games will be held in Honiara, Solomon Islands on November 19 but the boxing competition is scheduled to be opened on November 27.

All of the six women’s and seven men’s weight categories will be competing for their Olympic spots in the Pacific Games where the only the winners will receive their rights to qualify for Paris 2024.

Australia is the main boxing power in the Oceanian continent and they have the strong international boxers in all of the 13 weight categories.

Harry Garside claimed a bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympic Games and he returned to the national team to reach his next highlight. Australia’s most experienced female boxer, Caitlin Parker earned a silver medal in the annual Women’s World Championships and she is a high hope for the quota in Honiara.

Monique Suraci, Tina Rahimi and Marissa Williamson are further key members of the women’s team, while the Commonwealth Games silver medallist Callum Peters, Charlie Senior, Shannan Davey, and the native talent Teremoana Teremoana are the further hopefuls in the men’s team.

New Zealand is always challenging against the Australians, their Patrick Mailata claimed a bronze medal at the 2018 Commonwealth Games and following that the two-time Oceanian silver finisher turned to professional but he is back on track at the super heavyweight.

Tasmyn Benny, Jennifer Peters, Erin Walsh, Cara Wharerau, Deanne Read, Alex Mukuka, Kalani Marra, Wendell Stanley and Emile Richardson are the further strong hopes of the Kiwis in Honiara.

American Samoa, Fiji, Niue, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tahiti, Tonga and Vanuatu all have a few competitive boxers in their squads in this Pacific Games and they will try to challenge against the Australians and the New Zealanders.
