The Polish girls made a great session in Budva

Two sessions were held at the European U22 Boxing Championships in Budva, Montenegro where the Polish girls and several other young talents impressed.

Albania, Armenia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Belgium, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Denmark, Estonia, France, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Hungary, IBA neutrals, Ireland, Italy, Kosovo, Malta, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, and Turkey are the 33 participating countries at the 2023 European U22 Boxing Championships.

Italy’s Erika Prisciandaro, the bronze medallist from the last European U22 Championships, controlled the first round against Hungary’s Lilla Szeleczki and she was able to save fuels from the later parts of the competition in Budva.

Denmark’s Melissa Mortensen is their best female boxer who has six years of international experiences in our sport and she used them up against Turkey’s Asude Ediz Ece in the Round of 16 at the featherweight (57kg).

The Polish girls impressed in the second day of boxing, their experienced national team members such as Wiktoria Rogalinska (54kg), Julia Szeremeta (57kg) and Barbara Marcinkowska (66kg) all succeeded against strong opponents.

Germany’s Carlotta Schuenemann claimed a silver medal at the 2022 Youth World Championships and the 19-year-old talent is now one of their key boxers at the U22 age group which she proved against Italy’s Daniela Golino.

Russia’s Elena Babicheva switched from athletics to boxing and she made her debut in this U22 level on Day2. The tall southpaw boxer won all of the three rounds against Hungary’s Diana Cifra and she advanced to the quarter-finals at the light welterweight (63kg).

Hungary’s Levente Kiss had a lot of injuries but he returned to the national team this year and he had an emerging performance against Croatia’s Jan Morovic. The Hungarian heavyweight (92kg) boxer dominated the first round and his powerful shots delivered an early RSC success for him.
