The Buza twin brothers shined in Budva on Day3

The third competition day delivered strong battles at the European U22 Boxing Championships in Budva, Montenegro today.

Montenegro was the host of several previous competitions such as the European Youth Championships, European Women’s Elite Championships, European Men’s Elite Cup and several other tournaments.

Boxers who were born in 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2004 are eligible to compete in the current European U22 Boxing Championships.

Albania, Armenia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Belgium, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Denmark, Estonia, France, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Hungary, IBA neutrals, Ireland, Italy, Kosovo, Malta, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, and Turkey are the 33 participating countries at the 2023 European U22 Boxing Championships.

Hungary’s 19-year-old Rafael Buza eliminated Belarus’ Daniil Tsitko at the welterweight (67kg) in the session while his twin brother Romeo had the surprise success over Romania’s powerful Dorulet Tiu at the light middleweight (71kg).

France’s Benny Nizard, Poland’s Cezary Znamiec, Spain’s Frank Martinez and Russia’s Dmitriy Zakharov all won close contests at the light middleweight (71kg) in Budva and they advanced to the quarter-finals.

Belgium’s 19-year-old Noa Hadjit moved up to the light heavyweight (80kg) and the teenage hope worked well to beat Bulgaria’s Nikolay Atanasov on their meeting in Budva where Austria’s Lucky Osaro Aimufua and Hungary’s Marko Simon also succeeded.
