The Welsh girls as Leah Ragan and Zoe Andrews started well at the Boxam Elite Tournament
Next to the European U22 Boxing Championships, which is running in Budva, Montenegro this week, another competition is underway, the Boxam Elite Tournament.
The President of the Spanish Boxing Federation, Mr. Felipe Martinez worked hard in the previous years to build up a strong reputation for his country in the boxing map.
Several top countries are there in the new edition of the Boxam Elite Tournament in La Nucia including France, England, Italy, Wales, Morocco, Hungary, Spain, Croatia, the Netherlands, Belgium and others.
France’s European U22 Champion Romane Moulai moved up to the women’s bantamweight (54kg) and the 24-year-old technician boxer worked hard against Spain’s Marta Lopez Del Arbol who made her debut in this category.
Another European U22 Champion in this women’s bantamweight (54kg), Italy’s Sirine Charaabi boxed over her previous limit and she dominated her contest against Morocco’s Olympian Widad Bertal.
Wales always sends its team to the Spanish international competitions and their female duo such as Leah Ragan (48kg) and Zoe Andrews (54kg) both succeeded in their openers against young Spanish and French opponents in La Nucia.
Italy’s Federico Serra has nearly 10 years of international experiences in our sport and he had the strong footwork to beat Hungary’s Bocskai silver medallist Gabor Virban in their men’s bantamweight (54kg) meeting.
Richard Kovacs of Hungary has qualified already to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games but he suffered an unexpected loss to England’s Patris Mughalzai at the light welterweight (63.5kg).
Another Hungarian, the 19-year-old Milan Petriman caused their positive surprise when he defeated the strong Gianluigi Malanga of Italy at the welterweight (67kg).
Spain’s Sergio Martinez, Wales’ Garan Croft and Netherlands’ Tony Jas were the winners at the men’s light middleweight (71kg) after beating their Belgian, Moroccan and Croatian rivals in La Nucia.
