Twenty-five boxers celebrated their gold medals at the European U22 Boxing Championships

The last continental event of the year, the European U22 Boxing Championships has finished with its finals in Budva, Montenegro.

Italy’s Erika Prisciandaro was the first champion at the European U22 Boxing Championships, the 21-year-old talent defeated Turkey’s Nurselen Yalgattekin at the women’s minimumweight (48kg). Her teammate, Lucia Elen Ayari continued Italy’s winning path and she defeated Russia’s Arina Vostrikova at the light flyweight (50kg).

Armenia’s Elida Kocharyan won the tightest female final of the last competition day, she defeated Romania’s Loredana Marin by 3:2 split decision. A fairy-tale was finished at the women’s light welterweight (63kg) final in Budva where Malta’s historic finalist Gail Diacono lost to Russia’s Elena Babicheva.

Turkey’s Gamze Soguksu (52kg) and her teammate, the European Youth Champion Busra Isildar (75kg) defeated their rivals, Russia’s Valeria Linkova and Veronika Nakota earning gold medals for their nations.

The Polish women boxers are strong in the European events and their Martyna Jancelewicz (81kg) and Julia Szeremeta (57kg) succeeded in the finals. The latter defeated Montenegro’s best girl, Bojana Gojkovic in an excellent final bout.

Bulgaria’s Radoslav Rosenov is a multiple European Champion and he bagged his next gold medal at the lightweight (60kg) following his success over Konstantin Opolskiy of Russia. Another promising young talent, Oier Ibarreche made a historic gold medal for Spain when he defeated Georgia’s Lasha Gagnidze.

The host nation’s pride, the former Youth World Championships silver medallist Petar Lijesevic impressed in the final at the cruiserweight (86kg) and he secured a gold medal for Montenegro after beating Russia’s Khasmagomed Dzhavatkhanov.

France’s Yojerlin Cesar boxed over his previous limit and he defeated Russia’s Beshto Shavlayev at the light heavyweight (80kg) final. Germany has strong weapons at the super heavyweight (+92kg) and their Nikita Putilov succeeded over Russia’s Sergei Manzhuyev.
