Liu and Peng shined in the last day at the President’s Cup
The President’s Cup turned into its end in Chinese Taipei where Taichung City delivered another superb day of boxing in a friendly environment.
Following the elite finals, the high school and the junior high school boxers were in action in the sixth day of boxing.
More than 700 boxers from both genders registered to participate in Taichung City which was the host of the competition in 2022 as well.
The junior, youth and elite boxers competed in the National President’s Cup which is the main selection competition in Chinese Taipei this year.
In one of the most anticipated contests of the last day, a talented high school girl, Liu Pei Ying defeated Lin Rui Hsin in the final of the lightweight (60kg) and she has the chance to compete in the international stage in 2024 after this gold medal.
The women’s high school boxers have strong potentials in the international level and even their middleweight (75kg) talent, Yang Chia Chin proved a strong performance in the last day of boxing, she stopped Peng Yu Ching.
The boys in Chinese Taipei developed so quickly in the previous one decade, they are strong in the smallest weight categories. Tu Hsu Cheng Yu and Hsu Min Kai made a fantastic show in the final of the pinweight (46kg) among the high school boxers and the first won the contest by 3:2 split decision.
Hsu Shao Chi won the second male weight class in this age group, he defeated Pan Bai Wei unanimously at the minimumweight (48kg). Tang En Jun caused a small surprise at the flyweight (51kg) in Taichung City after beating Chiu Hung En in the next final.
Peng Chia Feng won several national competitions during his career and he made one of the most remarkable performances at the President’s Cup. He had a quality opponent, Su Wei Hao in the final of the bantamweight (54kg) but less than three minutes were enough for him for an early stoppage.
