Haney will relinquish his lightweight belts

In a recent interview, former undisputed lightweight champion Devin Haney (30-0, 15KOs) revealed several things about his future plans.

The first and most important news is that Haney will relinquish his lightweight belts before his WBC super-lightweight world title fight against Regis Prograis (29-1, 24KOs) on December 9.

This means that the current WBA regular champion Gervonta Davis will be upgraded to super-champion, the IBF may have a George Kambosos – Vasyl Lomachenko fight in April for the vacant belt and the WBO should start looking for an opponent for Denys Berinchyk.

According to Haney, he would have liked a match against Davis, but the team of Davis declined this opportunity. Haney also said that if he beats Prograis, he will then move up to welterweight and try to get a world title belt there as well.
