The 68th Bocskai Memorial Tournament will open the year in 2024
The 68th edition of the Bocskai Memorial Tournament will be held in Debrecen, Hungary from January 14 until the 21st in 2024. The deadline for the registrations to this strong competition is December 30, 2023.
The traditional and prestigious international elite tournament will open the year in 2024 and the Bocskai could be a perfect preparation opportunity before the 1st World Olympic Boxing Qualifying Event.
The 1st World Olympic Boxing Qualifying Event will take place in Busto Arsizio, North Italy between February 29 and March 13 therefore the interest to the Bocskai Memorial Tournament is huge from the National Federations.
Debrecen is a historic city in Hungary which is located in the Eastern part of the country and famous of its sports culture, boxing tradition and universities.
The first competition day of the upcoming Bocskai Memorial Tournament is on January 16 while the finals will be taking place on January 19 and 20.
The traditional event was launched in 1956 in the year of the Hungarian Revolution and supported the development of many big champions.
Olympic Champions, World Champions and European Champions competed in the Bocskai Memorial Tournament in the previous decades including such stars as Hungary’s Istvan Kovacs, China’s Zou Shiming, Italy’s Roberto Cammarelle, Cuba’s Julio Cesar La Cruz, England’s Luke Campbell and many other brilliant boxers.
Ukraine’s World Champion Yuriy Zakharieiev was named as the Best Male Boxer at the 67th edition of the Bocskai Memorial Tournament in Debrecen, Hungary on February 2023 where Kazakhstan became the most successful team.
The number of the boxers in last event was 279 including 105 women hopes at the 2023 Bocskai Memorial Tournament. The number of the participating countries was 25 and this is the very first time when the competition is being held in three rings. Four out of the five Confederations took part in the Bocskai Memorial Tournament.
