Billam-Smith stops Masternak, defends WBO World title
Callum Billam-Smith (19-1) defended his WBO World cruiserweight title. Billam-Smith on Sunday night in Bournemouth stopped experienced Polish fighter Mateus Masternak (47-6) in round eight.
Referee John Latham stopped the contest at beginning of round eight due to an injury that Masternak sustained.
Billam-Smith struggled against Masternak, but his punches on the body in round seven made the differences. Masternak sustained a broken rib and couldn’t continue.
In undercard Michael McKinson (26-1) won WBC International title in super-welterweight division, beating by unanimous decision Musah Lawson (11-1).
Benjamin Whittaker (5-0) stopped Albanian living in Italy, Stiven Leonetti Dredhaj, in fourth round. Whittaker won with brutal one punch KO.
