The final line-ups are confirmed at the 100th Hungarian Elite National Championships
Forty semi-finals were held at the 100th anniversary Hungarian Elite National Championships in Budapest on Friday and several of the dream finals have been realized between the stars of the boxing country.
Hanna Lakotar returned to this national event after a serious operation but she proved her very best against the ex-Ukrainian Svitlana Umanska and the 22-year-old boxer advanced to the finals of the women’s bantamweight (54kg).
Melinda Zsiga switched from kick-boxing to our sport and she defeated a World Championships competitor, Beata Dudek in the semi-finals of the women’s featherweight (57kg) while the ex-Kazakh Vladislava Kukhta also joined the finals at the lightweight (60kg).
The Paris 2024 Olympian Luca Hamori also secured her spot in the finals after beating Timea Belik in the semi-finals of the women’s welterweight (66kg) while the two-time European Youth Champion Veronika Nakota walked over to the title bout.
The women’s heavyweight (+81kg) is a strong category in the Hungarian National Championships and the reigning European Youth Champion Zsofia Szira and the European U22 silver medallist Reka Hoffmann are the finalists.
Istvan Szaka moved down to the flyweight (51kg) and the 25-year-old boxer eliminated one of his main rivals, the Boxam Tournament winner Martin Virban in the semi-finals which means he can box against another national team member, Attila Bernath for the gold.
The welterweight (67kg) is one of the strongest categories in this national event, where two 19-year-old talents such as the Youth World quarter-finalist Rafael Buza and Dominik Enekes are the finalists following their successes over experienced rivals.
The European Junior Champion Levente Olah (60kg), the Youth World Championships silver medallist Levente Gemes (71kg), the World Elite Championships quarter-finalist Akilov Pylyp (75kg) and the Youth World bronze medallist Levente Kiss (92kg) are all finalists in the Hungarian Nationals.
