Szabina Szucs made a strong comeback at the Bocskai Memorial after her shoulder injury

The 68th edition of the Bocskai Memorial Tournament started with 22 bouts in Debrecen, Hungary where Szabina Szucs made a strong comeback after her shoulder injury.

The new edition of the Bocskai Memorial is a preparation event before the 1st World Olympic Boxing Qualifying Event which will take place in Busto Arsizio from February 29.

Switzerland’s Ana-Marija Milisic is not enough experienced in the international stage of boxing but she impressed on Day1 against Mongolia’s Asian Championships silver medallist Nomin-Erdene Tugsjargal. The Swiss girl moved down to the featherweight (57kg) last year and she used her range better than the experienced Mongolian to win this bout.

Hungary’s Szabina Szucs is member of their national team since 2014 but she had a serious shoulder injury last year and she needed months to recover. She joined back to the Bocskai Memorial Tournament where Szucs opened her campaign with a success over the National Champion Rebeka Dobos at the women’s featherweight (57kg).

Hungary’s Zoe Harcos is a 19-year-old talent who delivered one of the top sensations in the opening day when she eliminated a well-experienced compatriot, the European Games quarter-finalist Vivien Budai at the women’s lightweight (60kg).

Poland’s Elzbieta Wojcik is a fantastic boxer at the women’s middleweight (75kg) who had a strong debut at the Bocskai Memorial after beating Ukraine’s former Youth World Champion Karolina Makhno.

Ukraine’s Ruslan Tsykalo, a bronze medallist from the Kielce 2021 Youth World Boxing Championships, dominated the first round against a local boxer, Mate Budai and he knocked out the opponent in the second at the lightweight (60kg).

Ukraine’s Oleksandr Hrytsiv had strong pedigree from the recent years and he had the stronger shots than Mongolia’s National Champion Beknur Khali. The Ukrainian landed the lethal punches in the third round when the referee stopped their super heavyweight (+92kg) contest in Debrecen.
