Jonas retains IBF title in thriller against Mayer

Natasha Jonas (15-2-1) retained the IBF World welterweight title, beating American Mikaela Mayer (19-2) in a thriller on Saturday night in Liverpool.

Jonas won by split decision, in a very even fight.

Judges Michael Alexander (96:95) and Frank Lombardi (96:94) saw Jonas as winner, and judge Diana Drews Milani (97:93) saw Mayer is winner.

In the same show, Zak Chelli (15-2-1) won BbbofC British and Commonwealth Boxing Council super-middleweight titles. Chelli beat Jack Cullen (22-5-1) by unanimous decision.

Mark Jeffers (17-0) defended BBBofC English title in super-middleweight beating Germaine Brown (13-3) by unanimous decision.
