Sarsenbek, Kuluhova and Zokirova impressed at the Nations Women’s Cup

The elite finals were held at the 13th edition of the Nations Women’s Cup in Serbia which opened the year together with the Bocskai Memorial Tournament.

It was another preparation competition for the upcoming 1st World Olympic Boxing Qualifying Event which was held in Sombor, Serbia.

Kristina Nadj Varga is a promising Serbian girl who won the first final in the Nations Women’s Cup, she defeated Uzbekistan’s Saidakhon Rakhmonova at the minimumweight (48kg).

Her teammates, the Tokyo Olympian Nina Radovanovic (50kg) and the super talented Dragana Jovanovic (52kg) both advanced to the finals of the Nations Women’s Cup but lost to Uzbek opponents as Feruza Kazakova and Aziza Yokubova.

Further Uzbek boxers such as the Asian Elite Champion Sitora Turdibekova (57kg) and Aziza Zokirova (75kg) won gold medals in Sombor. The first defeated Romania’s strong Claudia Nechita in the final using her technical skills to keep the best distance.

Kazakhstan sent a young team to the Nations Women’s Cup, mostly their next generation boxers but among them the Asian Youth Champion Ulzhan Sarsenbek (54kg) and the promising Viktoriya Grafeyeva (60kg) won the titles in Serbia.

Serbia’s Jelena Janicijevic boxed at the light welterweight (63kg) this time and she earned the host nation’s next title in the event after beating Romania’s former European Youth Champion Loredana Marin in the final.

Kristina Kuluhova is a new addition to the Serbian national team following she switched from Russia to the country. The welterweight (66kg) boxer exceeded all of the expectations in the final against Uzbekistan’s Asian Champion Navbakhor Khamidova which final was one of the best contests of the entire tournament.

Serbia’s Aleksandra Rapaic is member of the elite national team since 2019 and she worked hard in the light middleweight (70kg) final to beat Kazakhstan’s Balzhan Askar. Sara Miljkovic had also a tough heavyweight (+81kg) final against a Kazakh opponent, but she managed to beat Assel Toktassyn.
