Record number of boxers at the Boxam Elite Tournament in Spain

The Technical Meeting and the Official Draw of the Boxam Tournament confirmed the record number of boxers which took place at the Melia Benidorm Hotel on Monday evening. The Boxam Elite Tournament is one of the main preparation competitions before the 1st World Olympic Boxing Qualifying Event.

Altogether 208 boxers are there in the event and there will be 183 bouts in the five-days long competition in La Nucia. Boxers who were born between 1984 and 2005 are eligible to compete in the Boxam Elite Tournament.

Bahrain, Belgium, Chinese Taipei, England, France, Hungary, Iceland, India, Ireland, Italy, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mali, Mexico, Palestine, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Scotland, Serbia, Slovakia, Spain, Switzerland, Thailand, Trinidad & Tobago, Uzbekistan, and Wales are the participating countries in La Nucia.

Uzbekistan’s World Champions such as Ruslan Abdullayev (63.5kg) and Asadkhuja Muydinkhudjayev (71kg) are in the competition in La Nucia.

Chinese Taipei’s World Champions in the women’s part of the competition, Huang Hsiao Wen (57kg) and Chen Nien Chin (70kg) both are there in the Boxam Tournament.

The local organizers will host the competition in two rings due to the high number of female and male boxers. The President of the Royal Spanish Boxing Federation, Mr. Felipe Martinez was satisfied with the number of the participating countries and the quality of the entries.

Mr. Waldemar Mencel of Austria is the Technical Delegate of the Boxam Elite Tournament who introduced all of the important rules of the competition, the schedule, the transportation, the test scales, the weigh-in protocols and all of the other details.  

The venue of the elite international competition is the Pabellon Muixara in La Nucia, not far from the city of Benidorm.

The session in the first, second, third and fourth competition days will be starting at 3pm and transportations are available from 2pm to the venue.
