Fury – Usyk fight postponed due to British boxer’s cut
The fight between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk for undisputed heavyweight title in boxing has been postponed due to cut that Fury sustained in a sparring session.
WBC champion Fury was due to battle WBO, WBA and IBF champion Usyk in Saudi Arabia on February 17.
Queensberry Promotions revealed in a statement about the cut that Fury received above his right eye.
“WBC Heavyweight Champion Tyson Fury has been forced to postpone his fight with unified Champion Oleksandr Usyk after sustaining a freak cut during a sparring session in Riyadh. The cut, which opened above Fury’s right eye, required urgent medical attention and significant stitching and will obviously require a period of recovery, scuppering any possibility of the fight with Usyk taking place on 17th February in Saudi Arabia”, Queensberry Promotions said in a statement.
