Di Bella signs WBA champion Nina Hughes

Nina Hughes (6-0), the unbeaten WBA Bantamweight World Champion from Essex, has partnered with Lou DiBella for promotional support.

Hughes made history as the quickest British boxer to secure a world title, achieving this feat in just her fifth pro fight.

Lou DiBella, President of DiBella Entertainment, expressed excitement for this collaboration and commended Hughes as a resilient single mother. The bantamweight division within DiBella Entertainment is robust, and they plan to keep Hughes active with competitive bouts.

In November 2022, at 40, Hughes faced the undefeated Jamie Mitchell in Dubai, defying age-related doubts to win a 10-round unanimous decision, solidifying her WBA title at 118 pounds.

Hughes began her boxing journey at 25 and enjoyed a successful amateur career with over 70 fights, which was halted after a tough loss in the 2012 Olympic trials. She took a break to become a mother of two sons, who now accompany her to the ring, serving as her motivation.

Her professional debut in December 2021 resulted in a win against a seasoned opponent. Hughes credits her support system, including her accommodating employers and supportive parents, for her success.

In her first title defense on June 10, 2023, Hughes dominated Katie Healy with a unanimous decision at Wembley Arena. She’s enthusiastic about her journey with DiBella Entertainment, aspiring to become a unified and undisputed world champion.

DiBella Entertainment’s roster boasts top talents in the women’s bantamweight division, some of whom are also single mothers with unique motivations. The addition of Nina Hughes further strengthens their stable.
