Spain’s first finalist in the Boxam Tournament was Carmen Gonzalez at the women’s minimumweight (48kg) who faced Kazakhstan’s Aigerim Sattibayeva in the opening title bout of the day. The Spaniard felt the support of the home crowd and her exciting finish was enough to win the first title of the competition.

Italy’s southpaw, Sirine Charaabi, a European U22 Champion, is aiming for an Olympic spot in the upcoming 1st World Qualifier and she is now in top form. The Italian bantamweight (54kg) boxer had a younger opponent in the final, Kazakhstan’s Anel Sakysh and she managed to win the contest from longer distance. Her teammate, Alessia Mesiano won a tactical battle against Chinese Taipei’s Wu Shih Yi in the final of the lightweight (60kg).

India’s South Asian Games winner Manju Bamboriya not only advanced to the final of the women’s welterweight (66kg) but she had superb performance on that road. She started well against Belgium’s European Games silver medallist Oshin Derieuw but her rival switched to a different tempo and she won their impressive final bout.

England’s Sacha Hickey defeated a Kazakh girl, Aida Abikeyeva in the final of the women’s light welterweight (63kg), bagging her next achievement in a Spanish event. Her teammate, the Youth World Champion Amber Moss-Birch has done a hard job against another Kazakh boxer, Fariza Sholtay and her punctual jabs decided their light heavyweight (81kg) final.

Wales’ Saad Abdullah had the stamina to turn back his minimumweight (48kg) final against a Spanish teenager, Carlos Diaz and he claimed the first male title in La Nucia. His teammate, Owain Harris-Allen exceeded all of his previous levels in this Boxam Tournament and he won another crucial fight, the final of the featherweight (57kg) against Mexico’s Andrey Bonilla.
