Their female boxers made a debut at the Panamerican Games in Santiago de Chile and their national team members won a few international contests in 2023 as the start in women’s boxing.

Mr. Victor Sanchez, Mr. Robinson Poll and Mr. Jorge Felix Noriega have been selected the national team after their Panamerican Games. The President of Cuban Boxing, Mr. Alberto Puig De La Barca will be their team manager in the upcoming 1st World Olympic Boxing Qualifying Event in Italy.

The promising Legnis Cala (57kg) and Yakelin Estornell (75kg) switched from other sports to boxing and the two female boxers received the right to compete in Italy once again after the Panamerican Games.

Alejandro Claro claimed a bronze medal at the 2023 World Boxing Championships in Tashkent and the flyweight (51kg) boxer was near to qualify through the Panamerican Games but he has strong chance in Italy as next.

Erislandy Alvarez earned a silver medal in the last edition of the World Boxing Championships and the young hopeful got the right to compete for Cuba at the light welterweight (63.5kg).

Fernando Alejandro Arzola is one of the top super heavyweight (+92kg) talents in the globe and the World silver medallist could be difficult for all of the boxers in Busto Arsizio. Joining them, a relatively inexperienced Jorge Cuellar will be Cuba’s light middleweight (71kg) boxer in the second qualification option.

The third and final quota event, the 2nd World Olympic Boxing Qualifying Event will take place in Bangkok, Thailand from May 23.
