An International Training & Sparring Camp will be held in Varadero from March 25

After the 1st World Olympic Boxing Qualifying Event, the city of Varadero will host an international training and sparring camp in Cuba between March 25 and April 6.

Varadero is located in the Hicasos Peninsula and it is a popular beach resort town in Cuba with all-inclusive hotels and spa complexes.

The Cuban Boxing Federation is waiting for the teams to train together in the end of March and beginning of April as the next part of the preparations for the Olympics and the 2nd World Olympic Boxing Qualifying Event.

The training camp includes the sessions with the Cuban national team, the coaching, the technical and medial support, and the transportation from the Juan Gualberto Gomez International Airport.

The women boxers can participate in the training camp in their six Olympic weight categories: 50kg, 54kg, 57kg, 60kg, 66kg and 75kg. The Cubans are strongly focusing to develop their women boxers who began the sport mostly only in 2022.

The male boxers will be able to compete in the training and sparring camp in the seven official Olympic weight categories: 51kg, 57kg, 63.5kg, 71kg, 80kg, 92kg and +92kg.

Cuba has qualified already three boxers for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games where their Arlen Lopez (80kg) and Julio Cesar La Cruz (92kg) are aiming for their third gold medals after Rio de Janeiro and Tokyo.

The Cuban coaches selected two female and four male boxers for the upcoming 1st World Olympic Boxing Qualifying Event where they have strong chances to achieve further quotas for Paris 2024.

The third and final quota event, the 2nd World Olympic Boxing Qualifying Event will take place in Bangkok, Thailand from May 23.
