Berlanga KO’s McCrory, wants Canelo next

American star Edgar Berlanga (22-0, 17 KO’s) stopped Ireland’s Padraig McCrory (18-1) in the sixth round on Saturday night in Orlando, and thus became WBA mandatory challenger for Saul “Canelo” Alvarez undisputed super-middleweight crown.

26-year-old Berlanga started his professional career with 16 KO victories. But in last five fights, prior to Saturday night, he didn’t manage to get stoppage wins. Few doubted his power. But Berlanga against McCrory proved his power. He dropped the unbeaten McCrory with strong right and after that the corner of Irishman threw the towel.

After the fight Berlanga said he wants Canelo next.

“I want him now,” Berlanga told DAZN’s Chris Mannix. “We want Canelo next. Look at Eddie (Hearn) right there. He’s going to make it happen.”
