Thorslund stops Romero, defends WBC and WBO world titles

Danish star Dina Thorslund (21-0) defended WBC and WBO world titles on Saturday night in Copenhagen, stopping Spanish opponent Mary Romero in round eight.

Thorslund was dominating the fight against Romero and managed to win by TKO. Romero was last moment replacement for Turkish opponent Seren Cetin. Cetin got a cut in sparring and couldn’t fight.

In undercard of the show, promoted by Bettina Palle, the former world champion Mikaela Lauren (33-6) returned after over four years outside of ring and beat Georgian Mariami Nutsubidze (1-5). Nutsubidze retired with dislocated shoulder at the start of second round. Georgian girl was late replacement for Romanian Ioana Fecioru (5-2) which couldn’t fight because of fever.

Hamza Hussein (6-0) won by unanimous decision in a 6-rounder against Serbian Stefan Mihailov (7-22-3), Francis Fordjour (1-0) stopped Georgian Ruben Movsesiani (15-27-1) in first round and Thorbjorn Boudigaard (3-1) stopped Nikola Mandic (0-2-1) in first round.
