Intensive sparring sessions in La Nucia before the 1st World Olympic Qualifier

The teams are in their final preparations for the upcoming 1st World Olympic Boxing Qualifying Event and one of the top camps is in La Nucia, Spain.

The 1st World Olympic Boxing Qualifying Event which will be held in Busto Arsizio, Italy where the first competition day is March 3.

The management of the Royal Spanish Boxing Federation arranged the international training in La Nucia, in the same venue as the recent Boxam Tournament and the teams had to stay in the same accommodation place after the event in Benidorm.

The joint camp contained physical trainings, track and running preparations, and most importantly sparring sessions between the participating teams.

More than 200 female and male participants have been included to the Spanish training camp from three Confederations.

Bahrain, Costa Rica, Germany, India, Jordan, Kyrgyzstan, Mexico, the Netherlands, Palestine, the Philippines, Poland, Puerto Rico, Romania, host Spain, Sweden, Thailand, Trinidad & Tobago, Turkey, and Uzbekistan all sent boxers to the Spanish International Training Camp to La Nucia.

Several World Champions, medallists from the Olympic Games, top boxers from European, American and Asian Boxing Championships prepared for their next objectives in this training camp in Spain.

Many of the team managers used the training camp as last selections for their boxers before the main event. There were selection contests between the Spanish boxers at the women’s 54kg, men’s 51kg, men’s 63.5kg, and men’s 71kg weight categories.

Uzbekistan has selected its four-strong male team during the Boxam Tournament and the training camp afterwards at the 63.5kg, 71kg, 80kg and 92kg. The Asian boxing power is ready to earn further Olympic spots in the 1st World Olympic Qualifier.
