Germany confirmed its 11-strong team for the 1st World Olympic Boxing Qualifier
Germany prepared with events and training camps for the upcoming 1st World Olympic Boxing Qualifying Event which will be held in Busto Arsizio, Italy from March 3.
The European Games bronze medallist Irina Schoenberger (women’s 75kg) and the Bocskai Memorial Tournament winner Salah Ibrahim (men’s 51kg) both injured before the start of the 1st World Olympic Boxing Qualifying Event.
Mr. Eddie Bolger, the head coach of the national team, and Mr. Martin Volke, the team manager worked hard in the recent six months to arrange peak performance for their boxers in Busto Arsizio.
The 22-year-old Stefanie Von Berge is the star of their women’s national team, she is the reigning European Champion at the welterweight (66kg), and the highest German hope to achieve a quota in Italy.
Maxi Kloetzer, a former European medallist light flyweight (50kg) talent, recovered from her injuries and she returned to the national team in excellent shape.
Asya Ari earned a silver medal at the 2022 Youth World Boxing Championships and she moved down to the bantamweight (54kg). Canan Tas (57kg) and the U22 boxer, Felicitas Ganglbauer (60kg) joined the female squad for this event.
Nelvie Tiafack had a strong rival in Germany, the European U22 Champion Nikita Putilov, but after the training camp and the sparring, he was selected to compete in Busto Arsizio. The defending European Champion super heavyweight (+92kg) boxer is one of the best hopes in this category in the Italian competition.
One of the experienced German male boxers, Murat Yildirim competed already at the 2017 World Boxing Championships and he moved down to the featherweight (57kg).
Assan Hansen (63.5kg), the European Championships bronze medallist Magomed Schachidov (71kg) and the European U22 silver medallist Kevin Schumann (80kg) all have more than 120 contests during their career.
Tyron Amo (92kg) is a new face in the national team and he received the right for the very first time to compete in such a huge competition.
