Madrimov stops Kurbanov, wins WBA super-welterweight title
Israil Madrimov (10-0-1) is the new WBA World super-welterweight champion. Madrimov on Friday night in Riyad, Saudi Arabia stopped Russia’s Magomed Kurbanov (25-1) in fifth round to claim vacant WBA title.
Uzbek Madrimov after four rounds was leading on scored cards of two of three judges.
He rocked Kurbanov in the fifth round with a strong right and continued with series of punches until referee Steve Gray stopped the bout 2:20 minutes in fifth round.
The fight was in the undercard of Anthony Joshua – Francis Ngannou.
In the other fights in undercard in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Justis Huni (9-0) won the WBO Global heavyweight title, beating Kevin Lerena (30-3) by unanimous decision. Mark Chamberlain (15-0) won WBA Inter-Continental lightweight title, stopping Gavin Gwynne (17-3-1) in fourth round.
Louis Greene (17-4) stopped Jack McGann (9-1-1) in first round.
Tyson Fury’s brother, Roman got his fourth victory in professional boxing. He won 39:37 against Martin Svarc.
Also victories claimed Andrii Novytskyi against Juan Torres and Ziyad Almaayouf against Christian Lopez Flores.
