Vargas draws with Ball, keeps WBC World title

Mexican Rey Vargas (36-1-1) was dropped twice in the fight against Britain’s Nick Ball (19-0-1) but in the eye of judges was still enough to get a draw and keep WBC World featherweight title.

Vargas had big height advantage, almost 15 centimeters, over Ball. He started strongly in the opening rounds, but in later rounds Ball was the one that was more active. Ball dropped Vargas in round eight and round eleven.

In the end it was a split draw. Judge Massimo Barrovecchio scored the fight 114:112 in favor of Vargas, judge Rey Dansesco scored it 113:113 and judge Juan Bae Lim saw Ball as clear winner (116:110).
