Author: Zizi

There are matches, which are never to be forgotten, and there are boxing icons, who are going to stay with us for eternity.

Boxing can be extremely entertaining, especially when both athletes want to fight until the end and they are masters of their profession. A boxing match could be very good from many aspects, you could see a tactical battle, a good footwork, a KO/TKO and of course, when the two fighters do not spare with the punches.

Have you ever wondered how many punches a boxer throws in a match? How many of them lands on the opponent? Well, in this article you will be amazed about the absolute record of it.

Jesus Soto Karass, a former Mexican professional, wanted to make a special “last dance” in the ring and he and his opponent rewrote the history books in 2018. On his final match against Neeco Macias, Soto Karass threw 1,848 punches to the undefeated Macias (17-0), while the US boxer threw 1,505. A total of 3,353 punches thrown, from which 1,119 landed, during the 10 rounds. It means the fighters together successfully hit an average of 37 per minute, or we could say that they averaged little bit more than one hit every two seconds.

After the ten rounds, the Mexican fighter won the match with majority decision and retired with this amazing record from boxing. Fun fact: The athletes threw only 28 jabs during the ten rounds and only two landed on the opponent.
