Whyte returns with a victory over Hammer

Dillian Whyte (30-3) has returned to the ring after almost 18 months. Whyte on Sunday night (March 17) in Castlebar, Ireland stopped Romanian living in Germany, Christian Hammer (27-11).

Hammer decided to retired after three rounds. Whyte was furious with the decision.

“He just quit, but what can I do?” said Whyte. “I’ve been through a lot of hell and a lot darkness so I had a lot of pent-up frustration and aggression and it’s funny, because the camp was calm, everything was calm and it had to come out at some point, that’s my nature, you know.”

For Whyte was the first fight since beating Jermaine Franklin Jr on November 26, 2022.

Whyte was supposed to fight Anthony Joshua in a rematch August last year, but fight was canceled after Whyte tested positive for banned substance.

In undercard Sofiane Khati (15-4) of France got a surprise victory over Gary O’Sullivan (31-6).  Khati won 77:76 on points.
