Azerbaijan, Spain and Ireland enjoyed an impressive day in Porec

Azerbaijan, Spain and Ireland had impressive day at the European Youth Boxing Championships in Porec, Croatia.

Albania, Armenia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Belgium, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, England, Estonia, France, Georgia, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Kosovo, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey and Ukraine are planning to compete for the titles in Porec.

The men’s minimumweight (48kg) has less boxers than other categories but the quality is high in Porec. Moldova’s Alexandru Cenusa eliminated Armenia’s Levon Vardanyan while Azerbaijan’s Bilalkhabashi Nazarov outpointed Turkey’s Eres Sadullah in the next contest of the day.

Spain’s Ismael Maghraou had a great finish in his meeting against Bulgaria’s Ilia Zhivkov Kalchev and he joined the next stage of boxing. His teammate, the bantamweight (54kg) David Garcia had a strong performance against Greece’s Thomas Boditsopoulos and he won the next bout for Spain.

Ireland’s Scott Thompson destroyed Georgia’s Mikheil Gvasalia in their minimumweight (48kg) contest and he controlled all of the exchanges. Another Irish, Ryan Jenkins had a very difficult contest against Turkey’s Refik Kartal but the bout review favoured him in this light welterweight (63.5kg) contest.

Azerbaijan’s Omar Aslanli is another promising boxer from his homeland and he won two out of the three rounds against Moldova’s Alexei Sarioglo in their bantamweight (54kg) contest. Azerbaijan’s next boxer, Ibrahim Zeynalov eliminated one of his main rivals, France’s Sandro Spica at the light welterweight (63.5kg).

Poland’s Fabian Pawel Urbanski has strong experience from the previous years and he dominated the bout against Turkey’s Ali Altun Ertugrul.

Ukraine’s Mykola Laktionov had the advantage after three minutes against Georgia’s Giorgi Naroushvili and he continued his performance in the same level until the last gong.
