Belgium had a fantastic day in Porec
Belgium is a promising country in the continental boxing map and their boxers were outstanding in the fifth competition day at the European Youth Boxing Championships in Porec, Croatia today.
Azerbaijan’s Zidan Humbatov had a very difficult contest against Ireland’s Jamie Collins but he managed to win this flyweight (51kg) bout. England’s Mohammad Riza Safari was in different level as Moldova’s Maxim Cemelea and after four minutes of fight, the referee stopped their unequal contest.
Hungary’s Krisztian Nileborg, the European Junior Champion, faced with Belarus’ Andrei Matskevich in the first preliminary round of the middleweight (75kg) and he looked fresh from the first seconds to beat his opponent.
Belgium’s regional gold medallist, Zakariya Bentouhami is a promising boxer at the men’s welterweight (67kg) who won all of the three rounds against Slovenia’s Gal Patrik Tojnko in the fifth competition day.
Moldova’s best youth male boxer, Daniil Guranda opened his campaign successfully against Israel’s Adrian Warwar at the welterweight (67kg) and he has strong chance to win another important event. Albania’s Besian Karaj proved his progress in Porec on Day5, he triumphed over Serbia’s Dzenis Vanic in the next bout.
Belgium’s next talent, Yakoub Bakhi is a new addition to their youth national team and the middleweight (75kg) boxer had to switch into a higher tempo after the first round. Croatia’s Daniel Dukic was competitive in the first round but Bakhi decided their contest in the second round.
Ukraine’s Mykyta Zakharchenko controlled all of the three rounds against Romania’s Istvan Szucs and he marched to the quarter-finals at the middleweight (75kg). Spain’s Yolber Bandomo moved down to this weight class and he had an amazing finish over Italy’s Giuseppe Cirillo.
