Hearn: Joshua’s next fight will be for a world title

Promoter Eddie Hearn says that Anthony Joshua (28-3, 25 KO) will fight this year for a world title in heavyweight. A possible fight with winner of Tyson Fury – Oleksandr Usyk undisputed title is on cards. But Croatia’s Filip Hrgovic is also touted as possible opponent for a world title.

“I think you will see him again in end of summer. He is interested to fight again. We have the fight Fury vs. Usyk on May 18 in Riyad, Saudi Arabia, that we are very excited to see what happens there and then we have Filip Hrgovic on June 1. I will say, that Anthony Joshua’s next fight will be for IBF World heavyweight title or for undisputed title in heavyweight”, Hearn said for “IFL TV”.

Hearn said that if the winner of Fury – Usyk doesn’t fight Joshua, then Hrgovic will be next on line to fight.

Fury – Usyk will fight twice, considering that they have a rematch clause. In case of rematch IBF title will become vacant.

This could mean a fight between Joshua and Hrgovic for vacant IBF World title.
