Gutierrez and Maloe won their quarter-finals with dominance today

Noelia Gutierrez and Teresi Maloe both were brilliant in the seventh competition day at the European Youth Boxing Championships in Porec, Croatia.

Greece’s Anna Maria Tryfilli had a narrow battle against Italy’s Graziella Schinina but she was favoured in four out of the five scorecards. Another top women’s minimumweight (48kg) boxer, the European Junior Champion Ruby White of England dominated her quarter-final against Ireland’s Tiffany Murphy.

Spain’s Noelia Gutierrez was silver medallist at the 2021 European Junior Championships at the age of 15 and she is her nation’s best female boxer in this age group. Gutierrez, who began boxing almost 12 years ago, dominated all of the rounds against Hungary’s Greta Bojti in their quarter-final bout.

France’s best female hope in this event is Teresi Maloe, a multiple international tournament winner, who had two strong rounds against Ireland’s Nicole Kinsella in their bantamweight (54kg) meeting. The French felt that she can finish the job in the third and her punches guaranteed her RSC triumph before the final bell.

Hungary’s Sara Varga increased her tempo in the beginning of the second round against Ukraine’s Tetiana Vynohradova and she shocked her rival in their women’s featherweight (57kg) meeting. The 17-year-old Hungarian won their quarter-final by RSC and she will now meet Croatia’s promising Lana Paljusic.

The women’s lightweight (60kg) has brilliant talents and among them Czech Republic’s Katrin Ivanovova stopped her rival, Croatia’s Dorotea Vencl. Italy’s Ginevra Muzzi and Ukraine’s Viktoria Zakharchuk both controlled their bouts while England’s Ella-Mae Lonsdale smashed Lithuania’s Beatrice Savickaite.

Armenia’s Davit Simonyan eliminated a top Italian at the heavyweight (92kg) today, he was slightly better than Corona Aharon. His teammate, Misak Tepanyan controlled all of the rounds against Slovakia’s Sebastian Salamon at the super heavyweight (+92kg) while a female Armenian, Lusya Avetisyan also won her today’s contest.
